Apartment is named in honour of great Russian seafarer, Admiral Ivan Kruzenstern. He distinguished himself not only in the battles for the North sea but also as a researcher of new lands. Together with Yury Lisyansky, Ivan Kruzenstern made the first Russian round-the-world expedition on «Nadezhda» and «Neva» vessels. Kruzenstern discovered new trade routes to Ost-India and China for Russia. He managed to prove that the sea direction is more profitable. During this round-the-world expedition several islands of the Pacific ocean were explored, such as Kuril Islands, Kamchatka and Sakhalin. In 1827, the former graduate of Naval cadet corps Kruzenstern was appointed its director as well as a member of Admiralty councils.
